As part of the Gold Coast SUNS commitment to supporting the development and growth of the game of AFL at grass roots level, the Gold Coast SUNS have entered into a partnership agreement with the AFL Gold Coast Juniors aflgoldcoastjuniors.com.au.
The partnership agreement which is in it's second year now, sees the club working out in the Community to assist in growing the game at Junior level across many areas throughout the 12 junior clubs on the Gold Coast.
Some of the key activities include:
• Gold Coast SUNS players coaches and staff supporting junior clubs at the Community sign on day
• Gold Coast SUNS visiting Junior clubs throughout the year
• Gold Coast SUNS supporting the development of Female Football at club level
• Gold Coast SUNS participating in the AFL Gold Coast Juniors Holiday Camps
• Gold Coast SUNS supporting Junior Finals and Awards nights
The Gold Coast SUNS also provide assistance to Junior Football Leagues and clubs through specialist coaching with includes:
• Gold Coast SUNS coaches providing coaching clinics for coaches at local clubs
• Gold Coast SUNS Coach Guy Mc Kenna heading the “Coach Mentor Program”
• Gold Coast SUNS coaches presenting at regular AFL Queensland coaches conferences
The Gold Coast SUNS also work with and support the 6 other Junior Football Leagues / regions that fall in the clubs Talent Academy zone. These junior leagues include:
• Northern Rivers
• Rockhampton
• Mackay
• Townsville
• Cairns
• Cape York
