Community Programs

The Gold Coast SUNS are committed to supporting the Community through meaningful relationships and innovative programs and activity.

As one of the Club's five values, Community represents our promise of continued engagement and sustainable programs that will exist and provide benefit both now and well into the future.

The Club have made the well documented and very firm commitment to three areas of social responsibility within the Gold Coast Community. The club strongly supports and engages in activity while assisting in fundraising for three of the most challenging areas of social responsibility on the Gold Coast (now called the Horizons program) being:

  • Youth Homelessness on the Gold Coast
  • Respect and Responsibility (with a focus on Domestic Violence on the Gold Coast)
  • Northern Growth Corridor region of the Gold Coast

In 2015 the Gold Coast SUNS completed over 5,000 hours of Community work and activity through over 1,700 appearances. This was on the back of its first three seasons in the AFL, where, through the work of its players and staff, the Club was acknowledged by winning the prestigious Gold Coast Business Excellence Award’s Corporate Social Responsibility Award for work completed in the Gold Coast Community.

For 2016 the Club have announced they will continue to provide much needed support through their exciting programs and partnerships in the Community. These include the Horizons program, the Horizons grants program and the Club's focus on Diversity (which includes multicultural, indigenous and female), which will complement the extensive suite of programs the Gold Coast SUNS already activate in the Community.
