White Christmas Charity Event and Fund

Without doubt the biggest community event of the year for the Gold Coast SUNS is the White Christmas Charity Event. This event sees the entire playing group attend and participate in one amazing night for some of the neediest people on the Gold Coast. This will be fourth consecutive year that the event has been held at Movie World, this year again to be held in early December.

This wonderful night has been created to help bring a smile to the faces of those Gold Coasters impacted by Youth Homelessness, Domestic Violence and those in need in the Northern Growth Region.

The event sees over 3000 of the neediest Gold Coast attend, made up from the 10 Gold Coast SUNS nominated charity partners it supports and beneficiaries and families of the Gold Coast Community Fund.

The event comes together through the work and partnership of the Gold Coast SUNS, Movie World and the Gold Coast Community Fund who have joined  together with the Gold Coast Bulletin and new media partners NBN Nine and 92.5 Gold FM in 2012 to put this Community event on.

The feature of the night is the parade down Main St, which will see the entire Gold Coast SUNS playing group, joined by some of Movie World’s favourite characters, walking through falling snow as over 1 million fairy lights light up the street. Attendees on the night will also enjoy :

• Free entry to enjoy some of the most popular rides at Movie World
• A free meal whilst they marvel at the White Christmas Spectacular
• Free transport to and from the event
• The opportunity to meet all of the Movie World characters & have a photo with Santa
• The opportunity to receive autographs and have photos with Gold Coast SUNS players

White Christmas Charity Fund

Leading into the White Christmas Charity Event, the Gold Coast SUNS along with the other event partners open up the White Christmas Charity Fund. This fund will be open for a five week period before eventually closing on the day of the event. All of the funds raised throughout this period will go back into the Gold Coast community for those most in need.

In 2012, the White Christmas Charity Fund raised well over $40,000. This money was then distributed to some of the neediest families on the Gold Coast via the Gold Coast Community Fund and through the Gold Coast SUNS new Horizons program that supports the 10 nominated charities in the areas of Domestic Violence, Youth Homelessness and the Northern Growth Region.
