Speedster Liam Patrick was the star attraction at Street Vibe in Pacific Pines last Friday afternoon, meeting with more than 100 youth participants at the Brockman Reserve.

The GC SUNS livewire was on hand to promote the Gold Coast SUNS AFL kick activities, but took the time to shake hands and sign autographs with young Australians in attendance supporting National Youth Week.

The Gold Coast City Council (GCCC) event saw many of the club’s administrative staff venture out into the community, while Rotary Gold Coast (the major partner of the GC SUNS Horizon’s Program) coordinated a free BBQ for all the youths in attendance.

GCCC Division 5 Councillor – Tracey Gilmore, welcomed the GC SUNS to Pacific Pines and told goldcoastfc.com.au the club’s growing presence in the city’s northern region provides youths the opportunity to hear from their football heroes on how they can reach their own goals in life.

“It just makes all the differences in the world having the GC SUNS players at our events,” said Gilmore.

“The youths really look up to these players… so it’s great to have the GC SUNS encouraging our participants to hold an active stake in their local community and take up a recreational sport.”

GC SUNS Community Manager – Corey Bell, said the invitation to take part in the event was indicative of the positive work the club was doing in the city’s northern growth corridor.

“The North Gold Coast region is a focus for us as a Club with the work we do in the Community and to be able to provide support to the Youth of the Gold Coast, during National Youth week was just terrific,” said Bell.

“It was wonderful to see the Gold Coast SUNS players, staff and Horizon program partners Rotary Gold Coast, head out into the North Gold Coast region to support this big event.”
