A determined Matthew Warnock says he’s back running and building towards reclaiming his position in the Gold Coast SUNS top 22 as he continues his recovery after fracturing his left radius during the side’s Round 4 clash against Port Adelaide.

The solid defender has been ruled out for up to 8 weeks with his arm injury, however remains in high spirits following a recent visit to Melbourne to see family and friends as he awaited the medical clearance to begin his modified training program.

“After the injury I spent a few days with the family and friends in Melbourne which was fantastic.”

“Immediately after the surgery there’s very little rehab to be done, you just have to let it settle, so it was great to be able to spend time with them before getting stuck into rehab,” said Warnock.

GC SUNS General Manager of Football Operations Marcus Ashcroft praised Warnock’s professional attitude, and was confident GC SUNS members and fans would see him back out in the middle after the Club’s mid season break.

“Matthew is a respected amongst the playing group, and has been a significant absentee in defence in recent weeks,” said Ashcroft.

“He has shown during his time at the club that experiecence is valuable, and we have every confidence that he’ll come back firing when he does return to the side.”
