Defender Joel Wilkinson will join more than 500 proud Gold Coasters in Broadbeach this weekend for the increasingly-popular Walk for Australia, as the city celebrates its rapidly expanding multicultural Community.

Setting off from Kurrawa Park at 12pm, all registered participants will embark on a 600m walk from the beachside precinct to nearby Broadbeach State School for an official ceremony and presentation.

Australian Netball Champion and Welcome to Australian Ambassador Liz Ellis is among the event’s key note speakers, with GC SUNS Diversity Engagement Officer Michael Gugliotta saying it will be a rewarding experience for all attendees.

“Joel Wilkinson has done some great work in the multicultural space and this Saturday will be another event for Joel to continue his support of the multicultural population here on the Gold Coast,” Gugliotta said.

The 186cm defender will present a special autographed GC SUNS Guernsey to one lucky participant.

“The GC SUNS will be donating a framed autographed club Guernsey which will be presented on behalf of Joel.”

Gugliotta welcomed the event to the Gold Coast.

“It promises to be a great day filled with many different cultures and from all walks of life,” he said.

“It will be great to see Joel show some of his skills and explain the game of AFL to people who will see hear about the sport for the very first time.”
