Driven to succeed in the AFL, Tom Lynch says chasing premiership success on the Gold Coast alongside the rest of his teammates was the major driver behind him putting pen to paper.

“Other blokes like Dion Prestia have committed to the club, and while a lot of us are interstate, we have all settled in on the Gold Coast and are ready to help the team go onwards and upwards,” Lynch said.

“It is definitely an exciting time for the club, the group has come back in good knick and I’m really pleased to sign on.”

After a delayed start to the 2013 with a pre-season knee injury, Lynch found real form in attack – rallying eight consecutive appearances including a stand-out performance against the Western Bulldogs, pinching in the ruck alongside Sam Day after an ankle injury struck Zac Smith.

Unfortunately Lynch’s third season in the AFL was cut short, the 200cm spearhead injuring his PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) against Essendon in Round 12, ruling him out for the remainder of the year.

“I was pretty disappointed this year with my campaign. I was injured halfway through the year, managing just 8 games.

“But I am looking forward to getting in a good pre-season over the summer and hopefully playing consistent footy.”

As a result of his extended stay on the sideline, Lynch was forced to watch on as the boys secured victories over Collingwood, Melbourne and Greater Western Sydney.

Next year, the promising goal-kicker is hoping to play a key role in each of the GC SUNS on-field successes.

“The whole team has matured and are ready to go. We know the game plan and we’re ready to have a few more wins next year.

“We won eight this year and definitely want to strive to beat that.”
