Inheriting the No. 39 Guernsey from Timmy Sumner, Louie Herbert is set to shine in 2014.

Described by GC SUNS List Manager Scott Clayton as a “fantastic intercept mark who is very skilful above his head”, Herbert will be out to continue to develop his game after performing strong for Vic Country at the U18 Championships.

Taken with the club’s first selection in the Rookie Draft, Herbert has been working tirelessly on the training track, discovering the level of dedication and commitment required to achieve success in the physically demanding AFL environment.

Speaking exclusively with goldcoastfc.com.au, the 19-year-old utility says he is looking forward to developing new areas of his game, with the former North Ballarat Rebel set to use the NEAFL competition as the launch pad to his hopeful AFL career.

“I’ve gained a bit of experienced through TAC Cup and the national championships, so I’m looking forward to just continuing my football through the NEAFL to start with,” he said.

“I’ll be working closely with the Development staff like Shaun Hart and Andy Lovell over the summer, ensuring I can put my best foot forward in the New Year.”
