Jaeger O’Meara has been awarded a 2014 Goal of the Year nomination for his second-quarter effort against the Western Bulldogs at Cazaly's Stadium on Saturday.

Sam Day won the centre-bounce ruck tap-out down to Dion Prestia, who handballed the ball forward into open space with a Bulldogs midfielder breathing down his neck.

O'Meara then showed his class, attacking and gathering the ball at speed before slamming it onto his boot 55 metres out from goal into a stiff breeze. The Sherrin bounced in the open goal square and through the big sticks for the fourth goal of the quarter for the GC SUNS.

The reigning Ron Evans Medalist joins Zach Merrett (Essendon) and Matt White (Port Adelaide) as the three chosen nominees for round seventeen.

To win Goal of the Year, O'Meara needs the support from the fans with public voting to determine the weekly winner.
