For the first time in its existence, Gold Coast will begin the AFL Premiership Season with an interstate trip when it takes on the Demons in Melbourne on Easter Saturday, April 4.

While the venue has not yet been confirmed, the GC SUNS will enter the round one clash with confidence after three consecutive victories over Melbourne, two of which have come at the symbolic home of football, the MCG.

At the iconic Melbourne ground, the SUNS fought hard to beat the Demons by eight points in round 5, 2014 while they recorded a 60-point victory over the red and blue in round 7, 2013.

Gold Coast also defeated Melbourne by 13 points at Metricon Stadium in round 20, 2013.

The 2015 season will open with Carlton and Richmond kicking off proceedings at the MCG on April 2.

The AFL will unveil the complete fixture for 2015 on Thursday October 30.
