Following the Gold Coast SUNS' impressive 55-point win over North Melbourne on Saturday night, Rodney Eade expressed his gratitude for supporters sticking by the club during a difficult year.

At the beginning of the season, the expectations for the game’s 17th franchise were high. It’s no secret that things haven’t gone according to script this season for the SUNS, but they rarely do in football.

The win over the Kangaroos – a side that reached last year’s preliminary final – breathed life into a season that still has plenty of time in it.

“I’d really like to thank our supporters for coming out tonight with what’s happened,” Eade told the media following his side’s second win of the campaign.

“It’s close to our biggest crowd of the season, I think it was 14 or 15,000. And to stick around to the end our players acknowledged their support.

“I don’t think they should be undervalued in where we’re headed. The players really value them and enjoy them.

“We had an open day during the week there was a lot of people here with kids, so I’d just like to thank them publicly.”
