The Gold Coast SUNS have made two changes ahead of their final round clash against Sydney at the SCG, with defenders Trent McKenzie and Greg Broughton returning to the senior side.

McKenzie’s season appeared over a month ago after a recurrent hamstring injury, but he has proven his fitness this week to return for a last hitout for 2015.

Broughton will play his final game after announcing his retirement earlier in the week following seven seasons at the highest level. The former Fremantle defender has endured a frustrating campaign at Metricon Stadium with an array of injuries not allowing him to build any continuity in his football.

The 28-year-old will depart the game with 110 appearances next to his name and was one of the pioneers of the ‘Moneyball’ concept after the Dockers drafted him at 22, following a successful stint in the WAFL for Subiaco, which netted three consecutive flags.

As was revealed earlier in the week, Harley Bennell (calf) and Clay Cameron (concussion) will both miss the final game to the season after suffering injuries in the 37-point loss to Port Adelaide last weekend.

Danny Stanley and Steven May were both considered in some doubt earlier in the week for adductor and hamstring issues respectively, but both have been named to face the Swans.

The inclusion of May is crucial for Rodney Eade’s side given the presence of Bondi Billionaires, Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett, along with swingman Sam Reid and veteran Adam Goodes.

Saturday night’s clash at the SCG will be the first time Nick Malceski faces his old side since crossing to Gold Coast during last October’s Trade Exchange period.

The rebounding defender missed the round ten clash earlier in the year, but since returning from a knee injury, he has gradually worked into his maiden season at the SUNS.

Gold Coast’s inexperienced midfield division will face another tough challenge against the Swans star-studded engine room that consists of Brownlow medal favourites Dan Hannebery and Josh Kennedy, as well as veterans Jarrad McVeigh and Kieren Jack.
