AFL 2016 Media - Captains Day

Gold Coast SUNS captain Gary Ablett was asked by AFL Players’ to nominate his best AFL Fantasy picks for the 2016 season.

Which established player is in for a huge season?

Ablett says: “I think Matty Rosa will be really good for us. We felt we needed an experienced outside player. He knows the game really well and I think he’ll be a consistent player for us.”

Matt Rosa: SuperCoach: ($419,000 Def, Mid)

AFL Fantasy: ($411,000 Def, Mid)

Who do you expect to have a breakout year?

Ablett says: “I’m expecting that Steven May will take his game to another level. He’s already a very good one-on-one player and a great kick but the area of his game he’s been working on over summer is giving us a bit more attack out of the backline. ”

Steven May: SuperCoach: ($404,000 Def)

AFL Fantasy: ($291,000 Def)

Which young gun will have a big impact in 2016?

Ablett says: “Touk Miller obviously had a stand-out year and he’s followed it up with another fantastic summer. Normally it takes a young bloke two or three years to get that conditioning into the body to withstand 22 games, but he’s already there.”

Touk Miller: SuperCoach: ($394,200 Mid, Fwd)

AFL Fantasy: ($388,000 Mid, Fwd)

Touk last night - 25 disposals at 84% efficiency. 5 marks, 6 clearances, 7 tackles and a goal.
