Hostplus, the Gold Coast SUNS foundation partner, has recommitted to the club for a further three years.

Retiring SUNS Chairman, John Witheriff, announced the extension during his final address in the Chairman’s Club at Metricon Stadium this evening.

Suns Chief Executive, Andrew Travis said the extension signalled the strength of the partnership between the club and Hostplus.

“The first game of the year always generates hope and excitement and today there is some extra excitement as we are delighted to confirm that the club’s foundation partner, Hostplus, will continue with us for the next three years.

"Hostplus has been far more than a foundation partner to the Gold Coast SUNS, they have been with us all the way, as far back as when we gained our AFL license, Hostplus were there."

“The continuation of this commitment means the partnership will now extend to ten years. This reinforces that Hostplus is definitely true to brand as a super fund, with its focus on investing for the long term benefit of this community.”

In 2009, Hostplus and the SUNS announced they had embarked on an historic five year partnership in an unprecedented financial commitment and stimulus to the Gold Coast's hospitality, tourism, recreation and sport industry, helping support business growth and job creation in all sectors it services. Hostplus, extended their initial partnership with the SUNS in 2012 and on the eve of the 2016 season, Hostplus have extended their partnership of the SUNS beyond ten years.

Hostplus Chief Executive Office, David Elia said, ‘It was certainly an exciting moment in Hostplus’ history to become the Suns’ Foundation Partner in 2009 and it has been an honour to continue with that association until now and beyond. We are excited to renew and continue with our commitment to the SUNS.”

The announcement caps off a big week off the field for the SUNS. Hostplus’ announcement follows this morning’s announcement that Metricon Homes had signed a five-year extension to its naming rights deal for the home of the Gold Coast SUNS.

As a result, Hostplus and Metricon Homes will join Southport Sharks as major partners of the Gold Coast SUNS that’s partnerships will extend ten years.
