GC SUNS NEAFL coach, Stephen Daniel on Saturday afternoon

Everyone was pretty excited because Jaegs was back, but Mitchy Hallahan was pretty quick to let us know he was back too so he made it quite humorous.

Look it was a really good feeling around the place, obviously it’s great to have a quality player. Not just a quality player, he’s a quality bloke and I think a lot of people here at the club have seen him go through a lot of hard times obviously through what’s happened.

So to actually see him back and running around out there, it was a relief and I think a lot of people are just rapt to see him get through.

It’s a small step for him but I think it’s more exciting for him, the fact he’s able to get out there after having 18 months off.

It has been a long time for him so everyone at the club has just been waiting for him to play and everyone is really excited that he played and got through.

Hopefully in a week or two he can get up.

Jaeger is the sort of player that is pretty clean and hard at it. He works both ways and that’s what you want from a player with his attributes. He never lets you down so I can’t wait until he is back in the side.

GC SUNS captain, Gary Ablett on Monday morning

Great for him, he’s been through so much over the last 18 months or so. I think everyone around the football club sees the work he puts in.

He’s probably the most professional guy at the club. He had plenty of down times as well where he was a bit unsure about how the injury was going to go through the rehab period.

Just super proud of the efforts for him to get up, get back out there and for him now it would be about getting some run in the legs, getting that match fitness back and then when he’s ready, and the coaches feel he’s ready, he’ll be up for selection.

Small step in the right direction. Love to all for your support!
