Gold Coast’s round sixteen QClash victory over the Brisbane Lions has come at a cost, with experienced midfielders Michael Rischitelli and Gary Ablett failing to complete the game due to injury.

Rischitelli went down in the opening minutes of the 26-point win and early indications aren’t good for the veteran who was playing his 100th game for the club.

“Early reports say it doesn’t look good,” GM – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft, told SUNS TV.

“Even from ‘Rischa’ he doesn’t think it’s going to be best-case scenario so we need to get a scan of that, probably Monday, but early indications probably say it’s going to be worse-case scenario than a good-case scenario.”

Ablett appeared to aggravate the left shoulder that ended his 2014 season and hampered his 2015 year, with scans on Monday to reveal the full extent of the injury to the dual Brownlow medallist.

“He’ll need to get a scan Monday, had an episode where he went to tackle Mitch Robinson from the Lions,” Ashcroft said.

“Obviously came off in a bit of pain so we’ll get it scanned Monday and find out the severity of what that is.”
