Gold Coast SUNS midfielder Dion Prestia has been sidelined after scans revealed he will require minor knee surgery.

General Manager – Football Operations, Marcus Ashcroft confirmed the news, telling goldcoastfc.com.au Prestia would get surgery as soon as possible.

“Dion pulled up sore after the game on the weekend and was sent in for scans," Ashcroft said.

“It appears he needs a minor clean up. We will send him down to see Julian Feller and will aim to get the surgery as soon as we can.

“Following the procedure we will have a greater understanding of when Dion will be able to return to the field.”

Prestia, who has played 95 games for the Suns, injured his meniscus in May last year, missing the remainder of the 2015 season. He has played 14 of a possible 15 games in 2016.
