The Gold Coast SUNS reserves have been beaten by a strong Giants outfit, going down by 111 points at Metricon Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Giants impressive depth was on show, with 17 listed players in the charcoal and orange, including a number of first round draft picks, compared to just 11 in SUNS colours.

The home side started well with scores locked early in the second term before the Giants put their foot down, slamming through the next seven goals to take a six-goal lead into the main break.

With a handful of SUNS players impeded by injuries suffered during the game, the Giants were relentless after the break, kicking 16 goals to three to run out easy winners.

Darcy Macpherson was tenacious all day with 21 disposals and 10 tackles while fellow first-year player Brayden Fiorini was also good with 19 touches. Academy prospects Jack Bowes (three goals) and Nick Kempe (two) were the multiple goal kickers for the SUNS.

Meanwhile, Adam Saad continued his return from injury, collecting 17 disposals and showing plenty of dash off half-back.
