Ten new faces greeted Gold Coast SUNS members on Thursday evening in an exclusive Meet The Recruits event at Metricon Stadium.

Recruits Pearce Hanley, Jarryd Lyons, Jarrod Witts and Michael Barlow were joined by draftees Ben Ainsworth, Jack Scrimshaw, Will Brodie, Jack Bowes, Brad Scheer and Max Spencer to mingle with guests, sign guernseys and chat through pre-season regimes.

As part of the official proceedings, Chairman Tony Cochrane addressed the audience and spoke of his desire for the SUNS to become an aspirational club, something eagerly echoed by the entire room.

His key line, “the only thing you get from looking back is a sore neck” set the scene to hear directly from the new faces who joined the playing list over a successful trade and draft period for the club.

Despite only having been a SUNS a few weeks, Ainsworth and Bowes told members of the energy and passion within the playing list and their desire to represent Gold Coast at the senior level.

Jarryd Lyons and Pearce Hanley followed suit, noting the presentation delivered to them by Rodney Eade as a tipping point in their decision to join the SUNS.

In addition, newly appointed captains Tom Lynch and Steven May made their first appearance in front of members since taking on their new roles.

They spoke candidly of the love they have for the club and the tangible dedication coming from each player every pre-season training session.
