Keegan Brooksby will be rewarded with an elevation to the SUNS senior list.

The 27-year-old originally joined Gold Coast in the 2015 Rookie Draft (selection no. 42) and has shown tenacity and a willingness to learn and develop his craft over his time as a SUN.

His journey into AFL is a unique one, having only started to play football at age 18 in South Australia after a promising junior basketball career.

At 197cm Brooksby has played both ruck and defensive roles, making 11 senior appearances as well as winning NEAFL player of the year in 2016.

The official paperwork for the elevation will be lodged with the AFL on Thursday.

Brooksby takes the spot of injured SUN Sam Day on the senior list.
