Our jumper is not for sale  May 12, 2017 3:44 PM

AFL 2017 Media - Shanghai Chairman CEO Press Conference

Gold Coast Chairman Tony Cochrane declared it's jumper meant just as much to the SUNS as it does any other club in the competition.

Speaking at a media event with Port Adelaide counterpart David Koch in Shanghai, Cochrane said the SUNS jumper was off limits.

“Our jumper will never, ever be for sale while I’m chairman,”

“I’m not going to get into the legalities (of the deal signed between the clubs last season).

“But I will make this point: Gold Coast is a young club. It has small membership. It has the least spend of the 18 (AFL) clubs.

“We are building this young club in a strong NRL environment.

“We don’t have a lot … but we do have a jumper.

“And it means as much to us as it does to Collingwood or Essendon. And we will not give it up easily.”

Cochrane said he had no issue with Koch’s position on the SUNS wearing their red jumper in the match which is potentially going to be the most watched AFL game in history.

“I fully respect (Port Adelaide) has a major say who the partner club is in this venture,” Cochrane said. “This is (David Koch’s) invention, his aspirational idea.
