SUNS Launch North Queensland Membership  December 12, 2017 11:24 AM

We are incredibly pleased to be launching the Northern SUN membership and in doing so increasing our commitment to North Queensland and our male and female talent pathways.

For the first time the Gold Coast SUNS will launch a membership category built specifically for footy fans in North Queensland.

The Northern SUN membership delivers access to the SUNS' JLT Series game against Geelong in Townsville and a reserved seat to the team’s Round 1 match against North Melbourne in Cairns.

Fans who sign up as a Northern SUN member will also be granted access to one SUNS home game at Metricon Stadium in 2018 and will receive a SUNS membership pack and a Members cap.

In a bid to further strengthen the SUNS Talent Academies in the region, $20 from every Northern SUN membership sold will go towards the SUNS North Queensland Academy programs for aspiring male and female athletes.

Suns Chief Executive Mark Evans said the club was thrilled to launch the new membership.

"We are incredibly pleased to be launching the Northern SUN membership and in doing so increasing our commitment to North Queensland and our male and female talent pathways,” Evans said.

"Strengthening our ties in North Queensland is a focus of ours and to be in a position to launch a membership that provides additional benefits to footy fans in the region is significant."

SUNS midfielder and former Cairns junior Jack Bowes said support of the SUNS and the game continued to rise in North Queensland.

“The game of AFL is growing massively in North Queensland and the support the team gets throughout North Queensland is great, and I know fans travel between Cairns and Townsville to go to games as I’ve done it a few times myself.”

“Last year I played my first senior AFL game at home in Cairns and I got a real buzz out of playing in front of family and friends at Cazalys. Mum and Dad organised for them all to sit together last year and you could hear them every time I went near the ball.”

The Queensland Government is proud to support the JLT pre-season fixture in Townsville and the AFL Premiership Season fixture in Cairns through Tourism and Events Queensland as part of the It’s Live! in Queensland events calendar. Queensland, just the place to experience Australia’s best live events.
