Ahead of Friday’s intra-club match, there are plenty of options for the coaches to choose from when selecting the final make-up of the team.

A number of players in the squad have the ability to play in different positions, so could rotate through the midfield at times as well.

We take a look at two potential match ups that we could see at either end of the ground throughout the match.

Aaron Young v Jesse Joyce

Since arriving on the Gold Coast during last year’s Trade Period, Aaron Young has impressed with his leadership and versatility.

The utility, who can play both in the forward line and the midfield, made his debut in SUNS’ colours on Saturday during the AFLX tournament.

The 24-year old is a proven goalkicker, having kicked 62 career goals, including 37 in one season.

One player who could be tasked with curtailing Young is local Gold Coast product Jesse Joyce.

The defender now has 28 games of senior footy under his belt and is continuing to develop all aspects of his game.

His composure and ability to read the play will be an important asset during the match.

Darcy Macpherson v Jarrod Harbrow

After breaking into the senior team in Round 14 last season, Darcy Macpherson went on to play a total of eight games.

The growing importance of forward line pressure lends itself perfectly to the small forward’s game, who was part of the SUNS’ inaugural AFLX squad.

His tenacity and pressure on opposition defenders was highlighted by a season high of six tackles in a game against the Swans in 2017.

If he comes up against Jarrod Harbrow, this could prove crucial. The veteran played 18 games last season and was an important rebounding defender.

Harbrow averaged 22.3 disposals and 3.7 rebound 50s per game, providing an outlet from defence as well as locking down an opposition forward.
