In the lead up to the highly anticipated round nine clash against Port Adelaide in China, the Gold Coast SUNS are set to showcase all Queensland has to offer in the world’s most populous city.

Spanning from Wednesday May 16 to Saturday May 19 at prestigious hotel The W Shanghai – The Bund, the SUNS in Shanghai Business Delegation will host up to 200 business and industry leaders to showcase tourism, education, trade and investment in the state of Queensland.

Gold Coast’s May 19 game at Shanghai’s Jiangwan Stadium will form the centrepiece of the five-day event, which includes a range of activities including a cocktail evening celebrating Gold Coast’s tourism and education sector and a match-day function with key government and business identities.

The event is open to any prospective business owners looking to grow and engage their business in China and associated stakeholder networks, with packages starting at $3990 per person plus flights.

SUNS CEO Mark Evans said the event this year presented an opportunity to showcase the Gold Coast, with the venue being transformed into a GC hub over the five days.

“Last time we joined into most of the AFL activities and this year we decided to very much stand alone and promote Queensland and particularly the Gold Coast,” Evans told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

“All of our events are tied in with tourism, education and industry and running our own delegation means that we’ll take over a part of Shanghai and `Gold Coast-ify’ our venue.

“We’ll hopefully be able to connect Australian and Chinese businesses and explore some opportunities.”
