Jarryd Lyons will return to the senior side this Saturday as the team takes on St Kilda at Metricon Stadium for Round 13 of the AFL Toyota Premiership Season.

Sean Lemmens and Josh Schoenfeld have also been called up for their first AFL games of the season, after putting up strong performances in the NEAFL in previous weeks.

Jacob Heron, Will Brodie and Brad Scheer have been omitted.

Lyons was challenged by coach Stuart Dew to return to his best in the NEAFL and the midfielder delivered with a dominant 38-disposal effort over GWS last Saturday.

“His first week was ok and then obviously he was a lot better last week so he comes back into the side,” Dew told SUNS TV.

“I think he took the news well when he went back down and obviously got himself going in the last couple of weeks so we look forward to recapturing his early-season form.”

Lemmens has been building match fitness after injuring his hamstring during the pre-season and then fracturing his hand upon return in a NEAFL practice match.

The pressure forward played the last two matches in the reserves and averaged 18 disposals and seven tackles.

“Sean’s had a couple of different injuries throughout the season,” Dew said.

“He’s worked his way back in and we’re really keen to get him back into the side.”

Schoenfeld has been one of the most consistent NEAFL performers this season, polling MVP votes in four out of his last five games.

“Schoey’s really worked hard on his game and we’ve probably rewarded his consistency,” Dew said.

“We know he’s a really strong runner but he’s improved his contest work as well.

“We look forward to seeing him at the next level and transferring his NEAFL form into senior form.”

Saturday will host a double header at Metricon Stadium with the NEAFL side playing the Sydney Swans at 11.30am followed by the AFL match against St Kilda at 4:35pm.

Round 13 is also a Celebration of GC Footy, with 60 lucky junior Gold Coast footballers to have their favourite footy photo printed on the run-through banner for team run out. Those 60 junior footballers will also form the Guard of Honour and all GC Juniors have been invited to bring a friend for free to the match and support the SUNS.
