Following Saturday’s heartbreaking loss to St Kilda, two Gold Coast players have seen their efforts recognised by the coaches.

Stuart Dew and Saints counterpart Alan Richardson awarded Tom Lynch and Lachie Weller three votes each in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award for round 13.

The skipper finished with three goals, 16 disposals and six marks – four of which were inside the forward 50.

Weller played arguably his best game for the club as he continues to build form in his first season as a SUN.

He finished with 19 disposals, six rebound 50s and five inside 50s.

St Kilda midfielders Jack Steven and Seb Ross were rated equal best on ground, with both players polling nine votes from the coaches.
