Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew says he isn’t fazed by Hawthorn’s impressive Tasmanian record and is backing his team in to perform after the loss to St Kilda.

Hawthorn have played 58 matches down south and won close to 80% of those matches with an average percentage of 135%.

“What you do know is they’re a competitive footy club and have found some real good form in the last few weeks,” Dew told SUNS TV.

“Obviously down in Tasmania they’re a formidable opponent so a great challenge (for us).”

Dew said the SUNS would be more than prepared for the trip after the jet-setting start to the season.

“We’re obviously familiar with travelling and it’s just another destination for us,” he said.

“That deck down there and the ground facilities are fantastic so we look forward to getting down there and playing some good footy.

“Clearly we were disappointed last week but we want to take some of our good stuff from last week and inject it into this week.”

Hawthorn are currently sitting just outside the top eight, but back-to-back wins have them full of confidence.

“We’ve had a look at a number of the different games across the course of the last few weeks to get a bit of a form-line,” Dew said.

“But we’re really trying to make sure our guys perform to their level as well.

“We put our energy into that last week a fair bit and guys were able to deliver for the majority of the game but unfortunately didn’t get over the line, so we’ll do that again this week.”
