2017 first-round draftee Wil Powell will make his AFL debut on Saturday night when the Gold Coast SUNS host Collingwood at Metricon Stadium.

Powell has been close to senior selection throughout the year, being named as travelling or non-playing emergency on multiple occasions.

The 18-year-old, who re-signed with the club until the end of 2021, has played eight matches in the NEAFL this year where he averages more than a goal per game.

Steven May has also been named to play his first game since injuring his ankle in Round 11 against Geelong.

He will be joined in the backline by Rory Thompson who also returns after missing last week with a slight hamstring complaint.

Tom Lynch will be out for the remainder of the season after succumbing to the PCL injury which saw him miss a month of football earlier in the year.

SUNS Academy product Brayden Crossley comes in to replace the captain up forward.

Sam Day has been ruled out for the match and will be re-assessed over the coming days as he manages the shoulder injury sustained in a marking contest last week.

Jack Leslie has been omitted from the side while Callum Ah Chee has been withdrawn for personal reasons.
