Gold Coast SUNS Academy member Brodie Foster has earned the Round 13 Tribal Sport NEAFL Rising Star nomination.

A member of the SUNS’ Under-19 Academy squad, Foster produced another solid senior display on Saturday when he accumulated 22 disposals, six clearances and four rebound 50s in Gold Coast’s win over Redland at Metricon Stadium.

The Surfers Paradise junior has been a member of the SUNS Academy for five years, making his NEAFL debut in 2016 before starring at Under-18 level.

A gifted ball user with sure hands and an accurate kick, Foster won the NAB Under-18 Academy Series MVP award for the SUNS last year and was invited to attend the AFL’s Rookie Me Combine.

The 19-year-old midfielder has played every NEAFL match so far this season and has posted career-best numbers, averaging 19 disposals, three inside 50s, five tackles and three clearances per game.

Foster is Gold Coast’s first nominee for the award this year.

The Tribal Sport NEAFL Rising Star is awarded to the most promising young talent in the NEAFL competition.

Nominees must be under the age of 21 and played less than 20 senior games (excluding games as AFL Academy players) at the start of the 2018 season.
