Brayden Fiorini (leg), Pearce Hanley (shoulder) and Michael Barlow (face) each made successful returns from injury in the SUNS NEAFL team on Saturday, playing crucial roles in the side’s win.

General Manager – Football Operations, Jon Haines told the Alpha Sport Injury Update all three players had recovered well from the game.

“Pleasingly all three got through the game really well and have recovered really well this week,” Haines said.

“(They’ll be) looking forward to getting into their second game in a row this weekend which is fantastic news for all three players.”

The NEAFL side will possibly get another injection of class this weekend with three more SUNS set to make their return.

Ben Ainsworth, Jack Bowes and Matt Rosa are all looking to return this week in the NEAFL, subject to them getting though training tomorrow,” Haines said.

“They’ve all had a really good rehab program and looking forward to getting back out there on the weekend.”

Swingman Sam Day has had his injured shoulder repaired and will be aiming to return in time for day one of pre-season.

“Sam’s had his surgery in Melbourne and it all went really well,” Haines said.

“Obviously it’s a reasonably significant piece of surgery for Sam but he’ll start his rehab straight away and he’ll be ready to go for day one of pre-season.”

Unfortunately, draftee Connor Nutting sustained an injury in the NEAFL which has him in doubt for the remainder of the season.

Nutting was attempting to dispose of the football in the second quarter of the match against GWS when he want to ground awkwardly in a tackle.

“(It was) an unfortunate and really unusual injury for Connor on the weekend in the NEAFL,” Haines said.

“He sustained a lower leg injury which means he’ll be off legs for the next three weeks and then we’ll reassess that injury at that point and see what it means for the back end of the season for Connor.”
