Season recap:

Finishing tenth in the SUNS Club Champion award, Jack Martin was having another good year before a calf injury ended his season in Round 17.

Martin had played every game but one (Rd9 v Port Adelaide) up until that point, playing a mixture of half-forward and half-back roles under Stuart Dew.

Martin was one of Gold Coast’s most consistent players across his 15 games, averaging 18 disposals, five marks and almost a goal per game.

Best performances:

Martin thrived when sent back in defence but also had standout games in the forward line, including Round 2 against Carlton (three goals) and Round 8 against Melbourne (four goals).

Moment of the season:

Martin's classy snap in Round 2 for a goal set the SUNS on the path for victory.

What's next?:

The big question will be where Dew sees Martin playing his best football in 2019, with the 23-year-old starting to spend more time in the midfield amongst his forward and defensive work.

From the coach:

"We were really happy with Jack’s performances this year. He was used in a lot of different roles throughout the season and performed extremely well in each of them. It was unfortunate for Jack that he couldn’t play out the whole season through injury but he will be a big part of our plans moving forward and we are excited by what he can offer the side in 2019."  - Stuart Dew
