The first to fourth-year players were thrown straight into the furnace on their first day back of pre-season, completing a 2km time trial in high humidity.

The time trial was held at the state-of-the-art Griffith University running track and amongst the fold were several new faces.

State-league recruits Josh Corbett, Chris Burgess and Sam Collins joined the playing group for the first time while ex-Tiger Corey Ellis was also in attendance despite not being required to report to training until later in the year.

Josh Schoenfeld proved why he was one of the club’s best runners by taking out the time trial while Touk Miller was in close pursuit, finishing second.

Corbett showed his potential with a third-placed finish, an impressive performance from a tall forward.

Rounding out the top five were Jacob Dawson and Lachie Weller.

Three pace runners from Gold Coast Run Co. joined the boys for the time trial and were scattered amongst the field to help set certain time benchmarks.
