One of the most hyped teenagers of recent seasons, Martin lasted 10 minutes in his first game before dislocating his
left shoulder and missing the following 12 weeks. It was a devastating blow for the young West Australian, but Martin wasted little time on his return in showing everyone just what he was capable of.
Playing largely as a half-forward, Martin played the final 10 games of the season, kicking 10 goals. His final round performance against West Coast was breathtaking, with his 19 disposals, seven marks and four goals telling only half the story.
That one performance encapsulated just what Martin is capable of, as he took pack marks, delivered to teammates beautifully off either foot and shamed more senior players with his hard, two-way running.
Statistics don’t show everything, as he’s often more prepared to lay a shepherd than look for a disposal. Martin will be 20 in 2015 and again there will be excitement around the AFL to see just how much he can develop.
