The winger took the League by storm with his booming left foot earning him the nickname 'Cannon'. McKenzie regularly potted goals from outside the 50m arc in 2011 and aside from his classy disposal, McKenzie is quick, has a good leap and clean hands.
He played all but one game in a terrific first season and has extended his contract and looks certain to build a long and successful AFL career.
But close followers of the GC SUNS were not surprised by McKenzie’s first AFL season. When followers were trawling their memories for 2010 VFL on-field highlights, McKenzie’s thumping left boot gained repeat mentions.
McKenzie, who hails from Williamstown in Melbourne’s inner west – has become a Gold Coast favourite very early.
