The Gold Coast SUNS AFLW squad turned out for its first 2km time trial at Griffith University on Monday night, with a number of players recording strong times.

Alison Drennan retained the crown as the club’s time trial queen, posting another blistering run.

She was tested by new recruit Tahlia Meyer who made a fantastic first impression to finish second overall and record a new personal best.

Lucy Single was the next SUN across the line in third, followed by Shannon Danckert and Bess Keaney to round out the top five.

New recruits Gabrielle Biedenweg-Webster, Georgia Clayden and Courtney Jones all finished in the top 10 after impressive runs.

The biggest improver on the night was Wallis Randell, who shaved a whopping 34 seconds off her personal best to also finish in the top 10.

The SUNS AFLW squad has been back into pre-season training for the last fortnight, and will run a second 2km time trial in three weeks’ time.
