After going to the MCG every second week as a youngster to support Collingwood, Gold Coast midfielder Brayden Fiorini will finally get to run out on the hallowed turf as a player for the first time on Sunday.

Now in his third season in the AFL, Fiorini will be part of the SUNS team to play Melbourne, and the 20-year-old can hardly hold his excitement.

"It's a dream come true," he said on Wednesday.

"Growing up in Melbourne, going to the 'G most weeks, so I can't wait to go out there."

The clever left-footer has played 22 games across an injury-riddled first three seasons and says he's never played on the MCG at any level.

"I'll just try and treat it like another game," he said.

"Hopefully in the future we get to play there in finals in front of a packed crowd.

"That is the dream in the long run so it's a good test this weekend to see how it goes."

Fiorini was at almost every Magpies game in his youth, including both 2010 Grand Finals against St Kilda – the draw and premiership - and the 2011 Grand Final loss to Geelong.

Gold Coast has played just 12 games at the 'home of football' in the club's eight-year existence, winning just three times, including against Hawthorn last year.

The SUNS are coming off a horror loss to Carlton last Saturday night, just seven days after producing arguably the club's greatest victory when defeating Sydney at the SCG.

Fiorini said playing the finals-bound Demons would be a great opportunity, despite missing the experience of suspended skipper Steven May and possibly rugged midfielder David Swallow, who needs to pass concussion testing.

"I can't wait for the opportunity," he said.

"There's no real excuse, it's 22 blokes out there and you've just got to do your job."
