Sydney Swans v Gold Coast SUNS at BISP

Sydney booked a Preliminary Final date after a comfortable victory over an undermanned Gold Coast outfit on Blacktown on Friday afternoon.

Once again the Swans were led by star ruckman Darcy Cameron, who led the way with 22 disposals, 36 hit-outs and a goal in the 12.10 (82) to 4.6 (30) victory.

The Swans effectively put the contest to bed in the first term when they slammed on seven goals to one to lead by 36 points at quarter-time.

Whilst the SUNS managed to keep Sydney goalless in the second, the finished off the match with five goals to two in the second half.

Colin O’Riordan was also in fine form, collected 32 disposals, 12 marks and 10 rebound 50s.

For the SUNS, they’ll be buoyed by the return of Tom Nicholls (16 disposals, 32 hit-outs, one goal) and Darcy Macpherson, who collected 38 disposals, 12 tackles and nine clearances in his second game back from a long-term injury.

Listed players Jacob Dawson (34 touches and 10 tackles) and Jack Scrimshaw (31 disposals and five marks) were also prominent, while 16-year-old Academy prospect Hewago “Ace” Paul Oea was busy as he collected 26 possessions.
