The Gold Coast SUNS will take part in the 2018 ‘Build a Bike’ corporate charity event to support one of the club’s nominated charities, Act for Kids, in its mission to protect the innocence of childhood.

The event, which takes place on December 12, sees Gold Coast companies purchase a bike and build it for kids at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC).

These bikes are then gifted to children experiencing child abuse or neglect to bring a smile to their face over the festive season.

Act for Kids is one of the most prominent providers of free professional therapy for children who have suffered abuse and support for families at risk.

In 2017, the team at GCCEC and close to 30 local businesses managed to build and donate 54 bikes to Act for Kids in time for Christmas.

This year, with the support of the SUNS, the target has been set at 100 bikes.

An investment of $300 will include one bike, one helmet and one pump, with a team of approximately two to three volunteers needed to assemble the bike on the day.
