The Gold Coast Suns will host ten matches on the Coast in 2019 as the team returns to a full access of Metricon Stadium.

The 2019 Toyota AFL Premiership Season fixture released on Thursday sees Fremantle, Brisbane, Melbourne, Geelong, North Melbourne, GWS Giants, Essendon, Carlton, Richmond and Adelaide make the trip north, with the latter three all falling during respective school holidays.

Acting Chief Executive Andrew Thomas said the Suns were delighted with the final fixture which boasts three Saturday afternoon, two Saturday twilight, two Sunday twilight and two Saturday night timeslots.

“We are incredibly pleased with our 2019 fixture. The mix of matches at Metricon Stadium suits our market, with predominantly early afternoon and twilight matches,” he said.

“We
can't wait to see our local fans at what we believe to be the most exciting and entertaining experience on the Gold Coast: game day at Metricon Stadium

“The fixture has a favourable commercial draw with four big Victorian teams at home at Metricon Stadium, including Carlton and Richmond during Victorian school holidays, and Adelaide in the July South Australian school holidays. These matches provide a significant boost to the local tourism industry and we thank the AFL for taking this into account when completing the fixture.

“The 2019 fixture has a much better travel load than our 2018 fixture given the interruptions the Commonwealth Games did generate.  This year we are fortunate to have no double travels and only one trip to Western Australia.”

Thomas said the Suns were also looking forward to hosting the first ever Toyota AFL Premiership Season match in Townsville against St Kilda.

“We know north Queensland fans are passionate about AFL, and with the support of both the AFL and Tourism and Events Queensland, we are thrilled they will see the team play an AFL match for the very first time in Townsville,” he said.

Membership & Corporate products for the 2019 season will be available from next week and Thomas said the club had worked hard to keep prices as low as possible.

“We recognise the impact that returning to ten games at Metricon Stadium has on pricing and as such we have tried to minimise this impact by ensuring that all of our game access memberships remain below that of 2017 prices.

“I am pleased to say that family memberships are now priced significantly lower than they have been previously making it more affordable than ever for families to attend games and be part of the club.”

The SUNS will play in twelve games in Queensland in 2019, with full season members also having access to our away QClash at the Gabba (Rd 21).

All Suns matches will be broadcast live of FOX Footy across the country and on 7mate throughout Queensland.
