Lukosius excited for next chapter

DRAFT: Jack Lukosius Interview We spoke to #2 draft pick Jack Lukosius moments after he was revealed as the newest Gold Coast SUN.

Draft night is a nerve-wracking affair for future AFL footballers no matter what their draft credentials may be, and it’s been no different for Gold Coast recruit Jack Lukosius

Thankfully the South Australian didn’t have to wait long to hear his name, taken with pick #2 overall.

“It’s an awesome feeling I’ve always dreamt to get drafted (and) can’t wait to get up there,” Lukosius told SUNS TV.

“(It’s) a big relief hearing my name called out, I can’t wait to get stuck into training on Monday, meet all the boys and get stuck into it really.”

Lukosius will be joined on the Gold Coast by South Australian teammate Izak Rankine, who was taken with the very next pick - #3 overall.

“To go with a few boys that I know as well, it’s going to be really exciting – I can’t wait,” Lukosius said.

“From what I’ve heard the culture is really good up there.”

Lukosius and the other draftees will be straight into pre-season training on Monday morning, with the #2 pick hungry to prove why he was taken so high in the draft.

“(I can play as) a tall forward or a tall back at the moment, I think I’m pretty versatile at either of them,” Lukosius said.

“Kicking is probably a big strength for me.

“Hopefully over the next few years I can put on some weight and hopefully play as a key position player.”
