The Gold Coast SUNS have re-rookied four players at the 2018 NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

As reported in August, Michael Rischitelli continues his career at the SUNS after the club took him with pick two.

Jack Leslie was selected with pick 20 and will hold a category A rookie list position.

With pick 36 the SUNS took Brad Scheer, while Harrison Wigg was taken with pick 47.

The club decided to pass on its final selection at pick 51.

After taking five players in the national draft and four in the Rookie draft, the club’s total list grows to 46.

GM- List & Strategy, Craig Cameron told SUNS TV leaving a list spot open was a strategic move.

"We’ve left a spot on our list open… we can have a look at where our list sits, see if we get any injuries over pre-season so we can possibly select a player to try and fill a hole," he said.

"Or we can upgrade a rookie and then take a spare rookie spot through to possibly a mid-season draft next year.

"It gives us a lot of flexibility by having that spot."

Earlier this month, the AFL introduced the pre-season supplemental selection period which runs from December 1 until March 15.
