Miles loving life as a SUN

Miles: We're playing as a team SUNS Media caught up with Anthony Miles to talk about his thoughts on the season so far.

He’s only been at the club for six months, but it already feels like longer for Anthony Miles.

Coming across from Richmond at the end of last year alongside Corey Ellis, Miles is feeling the love from his teammates and enjoying the camaraderie within the club.

“That’s one aspect that I’ve really enjoyed about the club, being up here there’s not a lot of guys who are from the Gold Coast,” Miles told SUNS Media.

“So you spend a lot of time together outside of the club and personally coming in as a new player I feel like I’ve been here for two or three years how welcoming the whole playing group’s been and how close we are.

“I think that New Zealand camp and the whole pre-season has brought us really close together and it’s certainly put us in good stead.”

Miles was put through what was, in his words, the toughest pre-season of his life over the last several months.

So it comes as no surprise to the 27-year-old that the SUNS have kicked the season off in winning fashion.

“We want to be in games of footy and to be competitive in all three games and to be on the right side of a couple is really positive,” Miles said.

“There’s a lot of pride in that.

“We’d certainly take those close games and we’ve taken a lot out of particularly the last two weeks for sure.”

Miles has started the season well for his new club, recording 20 disposals or more in each of the first three games.

He’s been like a battering ram for Gold Coast in the midfield, not afraid to put his body on the line to win the ball.

The on-baller said the winning start to the season goes deeper than just the 22 players out on the park.

“I think it’s more just reward for effort for the whole organisation,” Miles said.

“Obviously it’s great for the playing group and the younger guys to grow in confidence and to win those close ones.

“But I think the whole organisation have worked really hard over the pre-season and leading into the year, so I think it’s just a really great reward for effort for the whole club.”
