NEAFL MVP: Five SUNS poll

NEAFL RD11: Highlights v Southport Watch the highlights from the Round 11 NEAFL win over Southport.

Five SUNS have received NEAFL MVP votes after the upset win over Southport on Saturday.

Michael Rischitelli received the maximum number of votes (10) for his role in the midfield, leading his side with 32 disposals, nine tackles and nine clearances.

He was supported by Tom Nicholls (seven votes) in the ruck who dominated with 49 hitouts and had 13 disposal of his own.

In his first game back since a fractured hand, Brad Scheer was exceptional with 28 disposals, eight marks and eight tackles to receive four votes.

Chris Burgess (two votes) responded to his omission from the AFL side with a 14-disposal, seven mark game while Jacob Dawson (two) was solid once again with 30 disposals.

For Southport, Tyler Roos (three votes) and Michael Manteit (two) were the only ones to feature.

The NEAFL Most Valuable Player Award is presented to the player uniquely judged the best in the competition by a combination of umpire and coaches votes.

The votes are submitted post-game cast on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis. As such, the maximum amount of votes a single player can earn per match is 10 – courtesy of the maximum five votes from both umpires and coaches.

The progress of the MVP voting is published on the NEAFL website for the first 12 rounds of the season, but withheld from that point on until the winner is revealed at the end of season awards night.
