Gold Coast midfielder Brayden Fiorini says the team’s morale is still high despite the loss to Collingwood on the weekend.

The young leader was one of the better SUNS on the park on Sunday, finishing with 23 disposals, but said it was the lack of four quarters of competitive football which ultimately cost the side.

“It was a good start, our pressure and tackling and what we pride ourselves on was there in the first quarter but the next three we went away from that,” Fiorini told SUNS Media post-match.

“We’ll look to put four quarters together next week.”

Fiorini praised the efforts of first-year pair Ben King and Jack Lukosius after the two continue to impress with every game they play.

“They’re both growing in confidence each week,” Fiorini said.

“Obviously Kingy got recognised (with a Rising Star nomination) last week and hopefully Luko gets nominated this week or next.

“But they’re both growing in confidence and it’s really good to have them in our side playing lots of games.”

Despite a string of losses in a row, Fiorini was quick to guarantee confidence levels remained high.

“We’re just getting back to basics and trying to win our certain KPI’s and we’ve ticked them off the last couple of weeks,” he said.

“We would have gone well in them today in the first quarter but it’s just that consistency with the four quarters.

“We’ve got three games to go so we just need to keep our confidence up and finish off the year well.”

Round 20 was Fiorini’s 18th game for the season – a career high – with the 21-year-old setting his sights on the QClash this weekend, games he historically plays well in.

“The body’s feeling good – it’s the most games I’ve played in a year so I’m starting to feel the effect a little bit,” he said.

“But as I said before we’ve got three games to go and we’ve got a really good opportunity this week in the QClash so I’m sure the boys will be ready to go for that.”
