Two Gold Coast male Academy players have been invited to test at the 2019 NAB AFL State Draft Combine to be held in Melbourne from October 4-5.

Small forward Josh Gore and ruck/forward Matt Conroy two of four Queenslanders invited to test at the Victorian state Combine which will also see players from NSW-ACT, Tasmania and the Northern Territory attend.

South Australia and Western Australia will host their own combines on October 12 and October 13 respectively.

Gore and Conroy both represented the SUNS Academy in the NAB League earlier this year, before lining up for the Allies in the Under-18 National Championships.

The pair have also played a number of NEAFL games for the SUNS as Academy top-up players.

118 players have been invited to test throughout the nation, winning enough nominations from club recruiting teams to show their wares in the testing days across the country.

Victoria will have the most with 62 invitees, followed by South Australia (21), Western Australia (18), NSW/ACT (7), Queensland (4), Tasmania (3) and Northern Territory (3).

AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan said it would be another exciting opportunity for players across Australia to showcase their AFL potential ahead of the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.

“Players are required to have at least two nominations from AFL Clubs for them to be invited to a 2019 NAB AFL State Draft Combine,” Sheedy said.

“A number of players who have attended NAB AFL State Combines in past years are currently on AFL lists, including Liam Ryan (West Coast Eagles), Matthew Parker (St Kilda), Bayley Fritsch (Melbourne) and Jack Ross (Richmond).”
