Match Report: Lions show their class

Highlights: Round 21 v Brisbane QClash18 highlights from the Gabba.

BRISBANE showed no mercy to its Queensland rivals on Saturday night, defeating Gold Coast by 91 points at the Gabba to bag the percentage boost its top-two push needed.

Following an even first quarter, the ruthless Lions ran over the top of the SUNS, kicking 18 of the next 22 goals to win its eighth consecutive match, 22.12 (144) to 8.5 (53).

The victory kept Brisbane well and truly in the hunt with Geelong and West Coast for a coveted top-two spot, bumping its percentage from 116 pre-match to 121.8.

Gold Coast's 16th straight loss all but ensures it will finish with the wooden spoon and the No.1 draft pick.

It was Charlie Cameron's night, as the surefire All Australian kicked a career-high six goals to win the Marcus Ashcroft Medal as best afield.

He now has 47 for the season to sit alongside Jack Darling in fifth spot in the Coleman Medal race.

While Cameron stole the show, plenty of others got in on the win, most notably skipper Dayne Zorko.

After overcoming a hamstring niggle to play, Zorko finished with 25 disposals and two magnificent goals, including one gather-and-snap in the final quarter that brought the 22,530 home fans to their feet.

Zorko did not have to deal with his QClash nemesis Touk Miller, who instead ran with Lachie Neale for the entire first half before switching to the Brisbane captain in the third term.

Jarryd Lyons made SUNS fans wince a little more with 34 disposals and two goals, while Eric Hipwood, Dan McStay and Zac Bailey also finished with a brace.

Brisbane dominated most facets of the game, clearly winning at the coalface with a 56-42 advantage in the clearances and giving its potent forward line plenty of chances with 65 inside 50s to 41.

Cameron's breathtaking second quarter simply took the game away.
