What it means for Hawthorn: Its season has a pulse. Still a game and percentage out of the finals picture, Hawthorn won't be giving up hope just yet. A victory over Gold Coast on Sunday evening will keep it in the equation for another week at least.

What it means for Gold Coast: It’s a chance to finish the season strongly. With two games left against the Hawks and GWS, Gold Coast needs to be competitive to give itself some momentum heading into the pre-season. The SUNS still have plenty to play for.

The stat: Hawthorn won't love heading back to Marvel Stadium this weekend, having lost all three of its games at Docklands this year.

The match-up: James Sicily v Ben King

King has displayed some good signs recently. The young forward has shown glimpses of his immense potential, kicking eight goals in his past four weeks. Sicily has been in fine form for the Hawks and will likely be his direct opponent this weekend.

It's a big week for: Sam Day

In the corresponding game against the Hawks last season, Day suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. The SUNS big man has returned to his best form in recent weeks and is moving as freely as ever in the forward 50. Kicking a bag this weekend would go a long way towards boosting the recently re-signed forward’s confidence for next year.

Big call: The SUNS get off to a quick start forcing the Hawks to reel them in
