The SUNS will be without electric defender Oleg Markov in the short term after the 25-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday’s QClash.

Markov was subbed out in the first quarter against the Lions and SUNS Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull has confirmed in this week’s Qscan Injury Update that he will be sidelined for the coming rounds.

“Oleg had to come off with a hamstring injury. He’s since had scans which have revealed a moderate grade hamstring strain, so we except Oleg to be back in about three weeks’ time,” Bull said.

There’s also an update on fellow defender Jack Hombsch after the 28-year-old missed the weekend’s big VFL win over Aspley

“He injured his chest the week before in the VFL and is still quite sore,” Bull continued.

“He’s started running this week, which is really promising, and we’ll progress Jack through some strengthening extras this week and back through some contact when he’s available.”
