Draft History:  2017 NAB AFL Draft 1st round selection (Gold Coast) No. 19 overall.

Wil Powell showed plenty of promise in his debut year in the AFL. Taken with pick 19 in the 2017 draft, Powell was small and skinny when he came to the club but was quick to add bulk to his frame, and his form in the NEAFL saw him earn an AFL debut in round 15. He played the next six AFL games after his debut before being managed for the final two games with a slight hip complaint.

With his first full pre-season under his belt, Powell continues to put on the kilos and looks a bigger and stronger footballer from what he was 12 months ago. He’s giving himself every chance to add to his tally of seven games and has looked good in match simulation sessions, with his athleticism and goal sense serving him well.
