There have been three changes to the Gold Coast SUNS AFLW team this week for the Round 2 match against West Coast.

Northern Territorian speedster Ashanti Bush has been named to make her AFLW debut in the forward line.

Bush is as an exciting small forward out of the NT Thunder program who has outstanding goal sense and flair.

Bush was drafted by the SUNS with pick 8 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft and replaces Cheyenne Hammond who has entered the AFL health and safety protocols.

“We were really keen to give Ashanti an opportunity and it’s great that she’ll get that chance to play for the SUNS in Round 2,” SUNS AFLW Head Coach Cameron Joyce said.

“We’ve loved what she’s been able to bring to the team over the last few months and are really excited to see her bring those weapons onto the field on Sunday.

“Ashanti and her family should be extremely proud of everything she’s achieved so far and everything more to come.”

As was reported earlier this week in the Qscan Injury Update, Claudia Whitfort is unavailable for the match after sustaining a delayed concussion from Round 1.

Coming in to replace her is Lucy Single who has recovered fully from an ankle injury and has been named to start on the interchange.

Tori Groves-Little has cleared the AFL health and safety protocols and been named to play their first match of 2022, replacing Alana Barba in the side.

Barba remains as an emergency for the match alongside Wallis Randell.

Due to border restrictions in Western Australia, the Eagles’ home match will be played at VU Whitten Oval in Victoria, the first time either side has played at the venue.

The match will also be the first time two interstate teams have played for premiership points in Victoria.

The match gets underway at 12:40pm AEDT on Sunday and will be broadcast live on the Seven Network (check your local guide), Fox Footy, Kayo, womens.afl and the AFLW app.
